Turn your suit inside out. Names are worth a lot.

This Isamu Noguchi "pedastal" sold today at Wright for $31,800.00 with the buyer's premium.

Not a bad day for the auction house. Thanks to Mondo for keeping me apprised of absurd auction comings and goings.

Paris and the Perigord Noir.

Headed to France next week for a visit and some family time. Making up a list of things to see in Paris and stocking up on books to read at Rastignac in the south west. Looking forward to the Puces, and to Colette. I also have to visit Herve Gambs to get some candles for a friend. Hoping to get some really nice French things, drink lovely local wines, and eat. Boy am I going to eat. Reservations made at Brasserie Bofinger for the night I arrive after my torturous 24 hours of travel with American Airlines.

The fabulous Chateau de Rastignac where I'll be sitting by the fire and going for walks in the country.

Maybe I'll find one of these in a trash heap or something. The undying optimism of a picking cheapskate. One of these and I could buy myself a place to live.

Heck it doesn't have to be a $300,000 Prouve. I'd love to stumble on some Mouille, Perriand, Corbu, or a longtime favorite the Lalannes. I've wanted a Rhinoceros II desk since I was just a little kid.

Still trying to make posts.

This speaker from peoplepeople looks spectacular. I would like one of these when they become available.

A couple of new things

Picked up a couple more items at the Sally Anne this week. A couple of bent ply side tables and a 6'x9' kilim.

Dining Chairs

I've mentioned some Danish dining chairs that I'm working on, and shown them stacked in the corner. I've got a couple of them more or less done. I haven't done anything major to them; a simple refinish with Danish oil and some new upholstery in herringbone denim. Here's the first of the four.

I started sanding and refinishing an armchair and so these ones have been put on the back burner for a few days.

Fall

We're having perfect fall weather this weekend, bright, crisp, and fresh. I always feel the urgency of this kind of day. I need to get out and take advantage while I can. The rain will be here soon. I rode down to the park yesterday and spent the afternoon reading in the trees.

This handsome fellow, a Pileated Woodpecker, showed up to keep me company. He was flying about near me drumming and calling.
